In the lead up to the 2003 AFL season the Kangaroos employed the services of Anthony Leydin to oversee the successful development and implementation of all Kangaroos corporate sales and programs. This involved managing a $4 million corporate sales budget and three sales executives.

With an uncompromising commitment to customer service and follow through, the Kangaroos sales team emerged as one of the best performing in the AFL with 2003 corporate sales increasing 45% under his leadership.

Anthony has been a welcomed guest speaker at Victoria University’s Department of Tourism and Hospitality on numerous occasions for well over the last decade. Always eager to share his vast private and public sector tourism industry experience, Anthony provides students with a unique insight into the opportunities and challenges the tourism industry offers on both a local and global scale.

The methodology that was devised allowed a detailed comparative analysis to be conducted and displayed a logical and strategic approach to the project brief. Extensive consultation was also an essential component of the project and this was carried out at a senior level with Tourism Victoria staff, industry groups and international inbound operators.

An important outcome of the project is that it will provide the situational analysis and background material for a booklet being produced by Tourism Victoria, in conjunction with Small Business Victoria and Horwarth Consulting on pricing strategies for tourism operators”.

Anthony was part of the new Senior Product Management team recruited by Qantas Group to oversee the pre-launch contracting and ongoing account management of Australian hotels for our new start up business, Hooroo.com.

Anthony was responsible for signing up hotels in the QLD market and had great success contracting with over 1,400 QLD hotels in key tourist destinations in less than 12 months. Over the next 18 months, through various and assorted promotional and tactical campaigns, Anthony built a portfolio of key QLD hotel accounts totally over $9 million of TTV, representing 65% of national TTV overall.

During this time he also oversaw the highest TTV % increase of any single Hooroo.com account (Rydges Hotels & Resorts) with a 150% increase repeated across four (4) consecutive quarters.

Anthony approached me at beginning of 2011 with an opportunity to feature Rydges Hotels & Resorts on the new Qantas Group online hotel booking site Hooroo.com. Having known Anthony both personally and professionally for well over two decades it was agreed we would explore the opportunity of contracting with a select number of key Rydges Hotels on a trial basis and monitor performance accordingly. Through ongoing consultation, unique packaging and participation in various and assorted tactical campaigns, Rydges Hotels & Resorts enjoyed immediate results, with all 43 hotel properties now listed on Hooroo.com.

Throughout the journey Anthony has demonstrated outstanding levels of creativity. His strategic thinking combined with his attention to detail ensures Anthony continues to prove himself to be a tourism industry professional of the highest level.
